The expansive dune landscape of Egmond

There's so much beauty to see and discover in the Egmond dunes: beautiful birds, Scottish Highlanders, adorable rabbits, stunning plants, and endless hiking and cycling trails. And above all, the Egmond dune area is a place to unwind, far from the hustle and bustle, the bustling town center, and everyday worries.

From Egmond aan Zee, you can walk or cycle straight into this beautiful nature reserve. Miles of open, car-free hiking and cycling trails run straight through the North Holland Dune Reserve. Northbound, towards Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl. In the southern dunes, towards Egmond-Binnen and Castricum.

At the entrance to the dunes, you'll find overview signs with various hiking and/or cycling routes. Choose a route and follow the arrows on the posts. Another nice option: walk through the dunes and then return to the village along the beach. Or the other way around, of course! By the way, you can also bring your dog into the Egmond dunes in some places: Egmond has off-leash and leash areas. Information signs at the entrance to the dune area explain exactly what's allowed and where.
