Cancellation Fund

To avoid financial surprises, we recommend participating in our cancellation fund.

1. Why should I participate in the cancellation fund?

Of course, you don't expect your holiday to be ruined, for example, due to illness of yourself or a family member, or for some other reason. Participating in the cancellation fund prevents double trouble: your holiday being cancelled and you still having to pay for it. You pay the participation fee simultaneously with the booking fee, saving you the hassle and expense. You don't need to fill out any additional paperwork or make separate payments to participate. In short, the cancellation fund is easy, simple, and affordable. To save money, it's best to indicate your participation when you request a booking.

2. How can I participate and what does it cost?

You can only participate at the start of your booking. On the booking form, you indicate your participation by selecting the cancellation fund option under additional costs. By doing so, you also indicate that you have read and agree to these terms and conditions. The participation fee is 8% of the rental price.

Example

For example, if you pay €300 for a rental holiday, the cost is only €24. These costs are listed separately on your confirmation; your booking confirmation also serves as proof of participation. You always pay the participation fee in full with your first payment.

3. In which cases can I claim the cancellation fund?

You can only claim the cancellation fund once Rentals Egmond has received the participation fee. Furthermore, one of the following circumstances must occur:

Death, illness, or accident/injury of the participant, first- or second-degree relatives, or housemates of the participant.
Complications during pregnancy of the participant or their partner living with them.
A medically necessary procedure that the participant, their partner, or a child living with them must undergo unexpectedly.
Material damage to the property of the participant or the company where they work, making their presence there urgently necessary.
An unemployed participant accepts an employment contract of at least 20 hours per week, for a period of at least six months or for an indefinite period.
Unemployment of a participant after a permanent employment contract due to involuntary dismissal.
The participant unexpectedly becomes available to rented accommodation or unexpectedly moves, for example, due to renovations or a change of employment.
The breakdown of the participant's private means of transport for the holiday due to an external event, within 30 days before the planned arrival date.
Permanent breakdown of the participant's marriage. The dissolution of a notarially recorded cohabitation contract is considered equivalent to permanent breakdown of the marriage.
In cases where cancellation is necessary but the aforementioned provisions do not apply, a suitable arrangement will be sought in consultation with the participant.

4. What are the exclusions?

You or your beneficiary are not eligible for a contribution from the cancellation fund if:

An untrue statement has been made and/or a misrepresentation has been given.
A claim results from an event that is (in)directly related to:
- force majeure;
- acts of war, which includes armed conflict, civil war, insurrection, civil unrest, riot, and mutiny;
- natural disasters, epidemics, and terrorism;
- nuclear reaction, which includes any nuclear reaction in which energy is released.
Rentals Egmond also reserves the right to refuse participation in the cancellation fund in special cases.

5. What should I do if I want to be eligible for a contribution from the cancellation fund?

You must notify Rentals Egmond of your cancellation immediately after an event, but in any case within three business days.
Verbal notifications must always be followed by written confirmation.
You must demonstrate the circumstances that led to a request for a contribution from the cancellation fund. After the end date of your stay, you can no longer claim cancellation funds.

6. How much will I receive, and how long will it take to receive the cancellation fund contribution?

The amount you receive from the cancellation fund depends on the circumstances. The cancellation fund contribution can never exceed the amount you paid to Rentals Egmond, minus the booking fee and the full cancellation fund participation fee. Barring exceptional circumstances, you will be informed within one week of receiving your written cancellation confirmation whether your claim has been upheld. You will be informed
